Synopsis: Manga artist Ozawa Yuki (Kimura Tae) writes her first serialised manga as she approaches her 50s. Even though she made her debut when she was a first-year high school student, she later ran into big obstacles in the professional world. The theme of the manga is her mother Ai’s (Yoshiyuki Kazuko) wartime experience as a 12-year-old girl. Yuki has decided to create a piece that will pass down memories of the war to future generations. Together with her editor Sato (Kiriyama Ren), Yuki immediately visits her 81-year-old mother who lives in Nagoya to start gathering information. Ai has many painful memories and had been tight-lipped about her wartime experience so far. At first, she reacts negatively to Yuki’s request but she unexpectedly relates girls talk much to the surprise of both Yuki and Sato. Despite the war years, Ai had a romance and the family even had get-togethers. However, the life that they had taken for granted would drastically change as a result of a major air raid over Nagoya. Both her close friend and the boy she liked lost their lives. Yuki is troubled by how much she should ask her mother about these memories. The harshness of the reality that Ai talked about was more than she ever thought. Ai saw the town transform into a sea of fire but she struggled to stay alive together with the family.
